  • The Union Government is planning to merge Cyber Appellate Tribunal (CyAT) and with the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) into single larger entity to avoid identical and overlapping functions

  • Mortgage major HDFC has received permission from Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to raise Rs. 3,000 crore by issuing ‘masala bonds’ after it exhausted a Rs. 5,000 crore limit to issue these bonds
  • Paytm has launched ‘Each one, teach one’ campaign to increase the digital inclusion in the country.
  • India’s largest lender State Bank of India (SBI) launched State Bank MobiCash Mobile Wallet. It is a joint product by SBI and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). Initially, this wallet services will be available in Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana and Bihar and expanded pan-India by the end of December 2016.
  • Varun Bhatt of Rajasthan Patrika and The Week have been jointly awarded International Press Institute’s (IPI) India Award for Excellence in Journalism, 2016 for outstanding journalistic work done during 2015
  • The Union Government has appointed Air Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa as the next Chief of the Air Staff of the Indian Air Force (IAF). He succeeds Arup Raha who retires on December 31, 2016.
